General Motors Honors Rockville Centre Business Women

Morrissey GMC Owner Named ‘Dealer of the Year’

New York, NY — (June 13, 2011): Colleen Morrissey, owner of Morrissey GMC Rockville Centre won the coveted General Motors “GMC Dealer of the Year” award at the General Motors 2010 Dealer of the Year Award ceremony in Detroit, MI on May 25th.  She was presented with the award by GM Chairman & CEO Dan Akerson and GM North America President, Mark Reuss.  

The awards program honors the top 2% of GM dealers throughout the country for exceptional performance in sales, service and customer satisfaction excellence.

“I’m thrilled to receive this award from GM on behalf of the entire team at Morrissey GMC,” said Morrisssey.  “It is their hard work, dedication and loyalty that has had a significant impact on the success of this dealership during some of the toughest economic times this country has ever seen,” she said.  

Fifty Chevrolet, 16 Buick, 16 GMC and 20 Cadillac dealers earned Dealer of the Year.

“It’s great to be able to recognize our dealer’s achievements since they play such a huge role in our success,” said GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson. 

“This is an accomplishment reserved for only a select few outstanding Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealerships and is a symbol of exceptional performance in delivering superior customer service while consistently growing sales,” said Mark Reuss, president, GM North America.

Morrissey has worked in the automobile industry for over 25 years and has been the dealer principal of Morrissey Pontiac/GMC Truck in Rockville Centre since it opened in 1996.  Prior to that, she was the general manager of her father’s Pontiac dealership in Commack, NY for ten years.  Her automotive career began in 1984 as a district sales manager with the Pontiac Division.  Morrissey is a member of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) and served as its President in 1998-99.
